Project: Columned Courtyard – Barcelona Bar Association
Location: Carrer de Mallorca, 283, L’Eixample, 08037 Barcelona, Spain Project area: 140 m² The Columned Courtyard of the Barcelona Bar Association is an iconic, multifunctional space designed to host lectures, presentations, and social events. This distinctive setting stands out not only for its unique architecture but also for the technical demands of its lighting, which had to adapt to different scenarios and highlight the beauty of its architectural elements. The solution implemented was based on a system of overlapping tracks with adjustable spotlights, structured in two layers of lighting:
- Pillar Lighting: To highlight the pillars—iconic elements of the space— TK04 -15° narrow-angle spotlights were used, which focus the light exclusively on these structures, giving them the visual prominence they deserve.
- Lighting for the central space: In the event area, TK04 -36° medium-angle spotlights were installed to ensure uniform and comfortable lighting. Additionally, some spotlights were directed toward areas where podiums might be set up, adapting the lighting for potential speakers or performances.
A warm color temperature was chosen, ideal for highlighting the finishes and cladding of the venue, creating a welcoming atmosphere and emphasizing the heritage value of this unique space. Products used:
- TK04 (-15°: Narrow-angle spotlights for focused lighting). (-36°: Medium-angle spotlights for general lighting).
Technical Collaboration: Engineering and Architecture: ENCOR Installations Conclusion: The lighting design for the Patio de Columnas combines functionality, adaptability, and an aesthetic approach, achieving a perfect balance between the venue’s striking architecture and the practical needs of the various events held there. The end result is a space that is efficiently lit, elegant, and adaptable to any required use.
