Lighting for the Villa de Frigiliana Indoor Pavilion
The Villa de Frigiliana Indoor Arena, located in the province of Málaga, has completely renovated its lighting system with ROBLAN technology, taking a significant step toward energy efficiency and lighting excellence in sports facilities.
This facility, with a floor area of 1,680 m², is a key hub for local sports and hosts training sessions and competitions in various disciplines. The main objective of the project was to bring the facility up to Class I court standards, ensuring optimal lighting for high-level sporting events while reducing energy consumption.
Project Description
The project involved the complete replacement of the existing lighting system— which consisted of 400W metal halide fixtures—with a high-performance, energy-efficient LED solution.
Following a comparative technical analysis of various options, the ROBLAN ASTROFDLX2150 luminaire was selected—a professional dome fixture designed to offer maximum efficiency and durability in demanding environments such as sports facilities and industrial spaces.
A total of 40 ASTROFDLX2150F units were installed, each consuming just 150W per light fixture, compared to the 200W required by other LED options on the market. This choice resulted in an energy reduction of more than 60% compared to the original system, directly contributing to the building’s sustainability and long-term cost savings.
In addition to efficiency, the project achieved a significant improvement in color rendering, uniformity, and visual quality throughout the venue, meeting the lighting standards required for Class I sporting events, where visibility, comfort, and safety are key factors.

The ASTROFDLX2150F luminaires stand out for their robust design, optimized heat dissipation, and high luminous efficiency, making them an ideal solution for large indoor spaces. Their state-of-the-art LED technology ensures a long service life, minimal maintenance, and stable performance even under the most demanding conditions.
The end result is a sports arena with uniform, powerful, and energy-efficient lighting that enhances both athletic performance and the spectators’ experience.
